A Taste of France

We had a unique treat in September with some of our friends Matt, Heather, & Trinity and Jeremy & Kristen. Jeremy grew up in France, his parents are Christian missionairies.

Jeremy and his wife Kristen, treated us to Raclette which is a dish native to parts of France. The Raclette cheese round is heated, either in front of a fire or by a special machine, then scraped onto diners' plates. Ours of course was a done with a groovy little machine we used to melt the cheese.

The cheese is brought to the table sliced, accompanied by platters of steamed potatoes, other vegetables, french bread & deli meats. These are then mixed with potatoes and topped with cheese in the small, wedge-shaped coupelles that are placed under the grill to melt and brown the cheese. We mostly took the slices of melted cheese and simply poured over food on the plate. It was sinfully delicious!!!

Dessert consisted of crepes, fresh fruit, & nutella. I bet we injested thousands of calories, but it was FABULOUS!! Thanks Jer and Kristen!
Jeff and I are the old ones of this bunch. On the right is Jeremy and Matt, Jeff and on the left are Heather and Kristen, these early to mid twenty somethings must think Jeff and I are way over the hill! Great friends! Lots of fun!

Jacob and Trin!!! Trin wanted to make sure Jake saw her new outfit! She is a cutie pie!
